Acoustic 320 head, 300 watts solid state but the loudest 300 solid state watts I have ever heard. 2 switchable channels with fully independent EQ and volumes. 3 effects loops, 1 per channel + 1 master. Switchable graphic EQ. Input Pad, Bright, and Power Bosst switches. Very good shape for its age, see pics for scrapes on the faceplate, the worst of the imperfections. The faint remains of a spraypainted logo is on the top, and the fittings show their age, but everything is solid and from a few feet it looks new to my eyes. I'll describe tone below, since I am posting it with the cab. The footswitch uses a funky 6 pin connector; footswitch is not included.
408 cabinet. Physically comparable to the modern Ampeg 8X10 in size, a bit smaller I think (I have owned old 2X15s that were the same size as this). Having owned a vintage square backed 8X10, I can attest that this cabinet does take 2 people to transport, but it is much easier to move around that my old 8X10 was. Original speakers, but I have not had it apart to determine the brand. Excellent condition for its age; no rattles or tears, grills are in wonderful shape. There are a few nicks in the tolex and the bottom is scuffed up some, but it also looks new from a few feet out. One of the EQ switches is missing but still works fine its just the handle part that is missing. The speaker cabinet has wheels so it can be wheeled around easily by yourself, but lifting it requires 2 people. Now for the fun part. It is as loud a rig as I have ever encountered, possibly THE loudest. When I first tried it out I was surprised at the sound. From what I had read, I expected an Acoustic to have a big, warm, mushy but indistinct sound with little to no high end. This is not what this rig sounds like at all, unless you EQ it that way. Set "flat," it is surprisingly bright and articulate. At sane levels, it sounds clean, but as you go louder it gets dirtier, but you have to go so loud your neighbors will need ear plugs before you really get a lot of distortion. With the channels, loops, and EQs, it's remarkably flexible for something older than most of the members here. The tough part is coming up with a price. Both the head and the cab are not often seen for sale, unlike the familiar 360 and its folded horn companion. There are none on Ebay, and none in the completed auctions history. In 20 years of buying bass gear I have seen exactly one 320 and one 408, and I own them. I am setting a price based on that rarity, on how much I value them, and considering how many 4X15 cabs are on the market in general; I have no idea what the "market value" is or even if that's applicable to something you almost never see for sale. Hopefully I'm not too far off. |
